Implementation

Create space for all participants to walk around safely without bumping into anything. Think of an animal that moves very slowly (snail, turtle), one that moves a bit faster (chicken, goat), one that moves very fast (camel, elephant, horse), and one that moves super fast (leopard, dog, rabbit). Instruct participants to walk in the space, and to adapt their speed according to the animal chosen by the facilitator. The participants must not run or touch each other.

When they have done this part of the exercise, explain that they are now going to do it again but this time with FREEZING. When the facilitator claps his hands, the participants must stop. The facilitator will clap twice when the participants can start again.

Steps to continue

Instead of using the name of animals, you can use an instrument and participants must keep in time with the music. Vary walking and freeze times to catch participants off-guard. Add additional instructions. For example, when the facilitator applauds three times, the participants must raise their arms.
