Introduction (5 minutes)
- Welcome the participants.
- Remind the participants of the purpose of the course (the general objective, the number of sessions, the expected outcome).
- Introduce today’s session (objective and how long it will be).
Ice-breaking game (10 minutes)
- Explain that you are going to do an ice-breaking game to warm up the participants and to help them to improve their listening and concentration skills during the session.
- Ask everyone to stand up in a scattered way.
- Tell them that you are going to make some continuous rhythm. They have to hear the rhythm carefully. If the rhythm:
- fastens, they have to move fast.
- slows down, they have to move slow
- stops, they have to stop moving
- Remind them to be careful of not pushing each other
- Do this game for 3 to 6 minutes
- Conclude the game by thanking the participants for their participation.
Main activity (70 minutes)
Part 1: Review of last workshop (10 minutes)
Show them Picture 1.1 (in the pdf )again to remind them about our last workshop and ask them if they remember what we discussed in our last workshop. Encourage everyone to participate.
Part 2: Introduce Anatomy (20 minutes)
- Use the Picture Dictionary book and refer to page 8, where a Rohingya boy’s image is given. Show this picture and tell the participants that you are going to learn about different parts of the body.
- Point out to the head and ask them if they know what is the function of the head. The Head includes eyes, nose, brain, tongue. So, point out to each and ask them if they know what are the functions of each part. For example, we have 2 eyes, and using both eyes, we see what is around
- Continue in the same manner until you reach the toe of the picture and discussing its function
Part 3: Let’s draw a human body (40 minutes)
- Divide the participants into 2 groups. Give them paper, pen, pencil, colors. Ask them to draw a female version of the same drawing from the Picture Dictionary.
- Give them 15 minutes for this and ensure that everyone is participating in the activity.
- After 15 minutes, ask each team to come forward and present their drawing to everyone.
- Thank each group for their presentation.
- Now show picture 2.1 (Is in the PDF) and explain each drawing by giving the brief explanations mentioned below the picture.
- Explain how different body parts have different functions and each of them is very important. If we did not have eyes we could not see, no hands mean not able to hold or touch, etc.
- If needed, explain one more time so that everyone has understood. Ask the participants if they have understood, ask them to explain to you and to the other participants what they understood, congratulate everyone who gives a correct answer, and correct it if necessary (without noticing who made the mistake).
Conclusion (5 minutes)
- Thank the participants for their involvement and concentration during the session.
- Summarize what was learned during the session (today we learned about different parts of the body and their functions)
- Collect feedback from the participants by asking questions like: “Do you feel like you learn something during the session?” “Do you think this new knowledge can be useful to you?” “Were you comfortable during the session?”
Give the participants the date and the location of the next session, make sure everybody will be available. If not, find a more convenient time and place so everybody can be here.
